NVIDIA Drives Edge AI Growth... US Cloud and Security Stocks Surge 6%
On March 31, Akamai Technologies (NASDAQ: AKAM) shares jumped 5.95%, closing at $116.78. The company’s market capitalization rose to about $16.9 billion (approximately ₩23 trillion), adding $1.07 billion (roughly ₩1.4 trillion) in a single day. Trading volume reached 2.95 million shares.
At the recent Morgan Stanley TMT 2026 Conference, Akamai’s management emphasized an annual cloud-infrastructure run rate of about $400 million and its edge-AI inference strategy powered by NVIDIA’s “Blackwell” GPUs. That presentation—and the underlying narrative of significant GPU investments—prompted analysts to raise their ratings, driving the stock up as much as 6% at one point. In March, system integrator DCT joined the Akamai Partner Connect program, and in collaboration with NVIDIA, Akamai expanded its Inference Cloud to over 4,400 edge nodes, reinforcing both its partner ecosystem and AI-infrastructure investments.
Headquartered in the U.S., Akamai Technologies is a global leader in content-delivery networks, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure services. Leveraging a worldwide network of edge nodes, it accelerates web and mobile performance, optimizes video delivery, provides DDoS protection, and delivers zero-trust security solutions. Recently, through its Connected Cloud and Inference Cloud offerings, Akamai has been evolving from a traditional CDN provider into a full-fledged AI infrastructure platform by scaling GPU-based AI inference and edge-cloud computing.
