Nike Executives and Directors Buy Millions in Stock Amid Poor Share Performance

Nike, Inc. (NYSE: NKE) announced that between April 7 and 13, insiders Robert Holmes Swan, director Timothy D. Cook, and President & CEO Elliott Hill each made open-market purchases of the company’s Class B common stock. On April 7, Swan bought approximately 11,800 shares at about $42.44 per share, investing roughly $500,000 (around 700 million KRW). On April 10, Cook acquired around 25,000 shares at about $42.43 per share, committing approximately $1.06 million (about 1.4 billion KRW). Then, on April 13, CEO Hill purchased roughly 23,600 shares at about $42.27 per share, a transaction valued at around $1 million (approximately 1.3 billion KRW). Following this purchase, Hill’s direct holdings rose to about 265,000 shares, with a market value of roughly $11.9 million (around 16 billion KRW).

According to the filing, these transactions took place within Nike’s designated trading window for executives and directors after the company’s quarterly earnings release. After the purchases, Cook’s direct stake stood at approximately 130,480 shares, valued at about $5.85 million (around 8 billion KRW) at current prices.

In response to the insider buying by Nike’s CEO and key directors, the company’s share price saw a short-term rebound, closing up more than 2% on April 15. Additionally, at the end of March, Nike reported third-quarter fiscal 2026 results, with revenue and earnings exceeding Wall Street estimates, and declared a quarterly dividend of $0.41 per share, paid on April 1.

Nike is a global brand that designs, manufactures, and sells sports and lifestyle footwear, apparel, and equipment through extensive distribution networks in North America, Europe, and China. Its board of directors includes external members such as Apple CEO and Nike lead independent director Tim Cook, while CEO Elliott Hill is leading the company’s performance recovery and portfolio optimization efforts.
