AI Healthcare Leader Loses 1 Trillion Won in Market Value Overnight

Tempus AI Inc. (NASDAQ: TEM) closed at $50.20 on May 4, plunging 10.07% on the U.S. stock market. Trading volume topped 4.1 million shares, wiping out roughly $800 million in market capitalization—about KRW 1 trillion—in a single day. Its market value now stands at approximately $8.8 billion, or KRW 12 trillion.

Precision Medicine

The company will report its first-quarter 2026 results on May 5 (local time) and hold its inaugural Investor Day on May 29 to present its mid- to long-term growth strategy and outlook.

Recently, Tempus AI announced an AI-driven precision medicine collaboration with USC and was named one of Time’s “Top 10 Most Influential Health and Life Sciences Companies of 2026,” further raising its profile.

Headquartered in Chicago, Tempus AI is a health-tech firm that provides a precision medicine platform, using AI to analyze clinical and genomic data for personalized treatment of patients with diseases such as cancer.

Founded in 2015 and listed on NASDAQ in June 2024, the company has sustained a high-growth yet loss-making model, generating about $1.3 billion in revenue (roughly KRW 1.8 trillion) over the past year while recording a net loss of around $245 million (approximately KRW 300 billion).
