U.S. Design Software Company Expands Operations Platform with Multi-Billion Dollar Maintenance Software Acquisition
Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire MaintainX, a provider of modern maintenance and operations software, in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $3.6 billion (about ₩4.8 trillion). The company plans to integrate MaintainX into its Autodesk Operations Solutions platform, extending its business beyond design and manufacturing into the operations phase.
MaintainX’s annual recurring revenue (ARR) is expected to top $135 million (roughly ₩180 billion) by 2026, with a projected growth rate exceeding 50%. Upon closing, the acquisition is anticipated to contribute significantly to Autodesk’s total addressable market expansion.
On June 15, Autodesk arranged a new 364-day credit facility of $1 billion (about ₩1.35 trillion) to finance the MaintainX purchase and associated fees. In addition, board chair Stacey J. Smith acquired approximately $794,000 (around ₩1.1 billion) of Autodesk shares on the open market, further increasing her stake in the company.
Recently, Autodesk entered into a strategic collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to scale AI-powered design and operations workflows in the cloud. At the same time, it withdrew its previously considered bid for PTC, reaffirming its commitment to a platform-centric growth strategy.
Autodesk is a leading U.S. software company offering CAD, BIM, and other design and engineering solutions to the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), manufacturing, and media & entertainment industries. The company has grown its revenue base through subscription models and a transition to cloud and AI technologies.
As demand rises for cloud collaboration, AI-assisted design, and integrated operational data, competition is intensifying among global design and engineering software providers to deliver unified platforms that span from initial design through maintenance and operations.
